I work in the Enterprise Networking Group (ENG) within the Windows Core Operating System Division (COSD), my group produces all server oriented networking components that ship in Windows (think DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, RAS, EAP and NAP).
My role in the group is a architecture focused one, this gives me a opportunity to work across a number of different components one where I spend allot of my time is called Network Access Protection (NAP).
Microsoft is now hosting a video from the Charlie Rose show with Steve Ballmer (Microsoft) and John Chambers (Cisco) talking about how the two companies work with each other and yet still compete, this video (amongst other things) has a demo of Network Access Control (CISCO) and Network Access Protection (Microsoft) working with each other, this demo is at 49:00 if you want to check it out.
What’s super cool (I think) is that we also now are interoperable with the Trusted Computing Group’s Trusted Network Connect (TNC) based products too, that includes Juniper as well as others.
Now since the title of this post is “Want to see what it is I do?” I should also point out that at 57:00 there is a demo of the Linksys (CISCO) PIKA (Windows Media Center Extender), now although I don’t actually work on the eHome team in Windows I do get to work with these guys, in the case of PIKA I worked with them (a long time ago) on some of the security technology in these devices, I also participate in the beta testing of these sorts of devices which is fun.
